TYPICAL TREATMENT PROCESS
STAGE 1: Dental Implant Consultation
During this initial consultation, we conduct a comprehensive examination and treatment planning process that includes:
- Identifying the missing tooth and assessing how long it has been absent.
- Evaluating the health of the gums and the density of the surrounding bone.
- Measuring the dimensions of the empty space in your mouth.
- Reviewing your medical history, including conditions like osteoporosis, diabetes, and any habits such as smoking.
- Assessing your oral hygiene and habits like teeth grinding.
Based on this information, our dentists will take photos and digital X-rays of your teeth and explain the treatments options available. As dental implants are usually irreversible, we need to make sure that consent is granted and that all alternative options have been considered. This is an opportunity to ask your dentist any questions you may have about the treatment. We strive to ensure that the situation and the treatment options have been thoroughly discussed and explain to you, so that you have enough information to make an informed decision.
STAGE 2: Implant surgery: After an extraction or in the space where your tooth is missing, a dental implant is placed accurately in a pre-planned position using our implant guide. A small anaesthetic can be given to make the process more comfortable. If there is insufficient bone, this may need to be built up with bone substitute and collagen, which may contain material originating from cows and pigs. After the placement of the implant, the site will be covered, and the gum tissue held together by sutures.
STAGE 3: Healing Process: Healing may take anywhere from 3-6months after the surgery and it is common to experience some discomfort during this healing phase. To promote good healing and a better outcome, it is best to adhere to the instructions advised to you and inform your dentist of any sores, ulcers, looseness or any unexpected uncovering of the fixtures. This healing phase is extremely important, as the implant needs time to fuse to your jawbone and stabilize.
STAGE 4: Review Check: Our dentist will be seeing you 2 weeks later to check how the implant is doing and possibly remove any stiches. We will schedule an appointment for you in 2-3 months time to check on the implant again. The dentist will use a special machine to check the stability and healing progress of the implant. This is to check whether the implant is stable enough to support your tooth, and the chewing function it has to withstand.
STAGE 5: Crown Insertion:
After 3-6 months of your implant healing is completed, the crown is ready to be placed on top of the implant.
Dental Designs Clinic In-House Laboratory
Modern advances in dental technology has allowed us to be able to fabricate a crown in the clinic, under our full control. Unlike traditional dental laboratories, which are made off-site, we make all our crowns and bridges in-house to ensure better quality control.
Our dentists keep themselves up to date with international techniques that are effective and comfortable for you. We use a fully digital workflow and use a 3D scanner (CEREC) to take impressions of your teeth, which means no uncomfortable dental moulds are required. We also make the final crown straight away, and can deliver it on the same day, minimizing downtime and eliminating the need for temporary crowns which are usually rough and fall -off easily.
All our crowns and bridges made in-house are 100% metal-free, and do not contain mercury or other toxins. We make Ceramic and Zirconia crowns with the use of high-quality materials with a long track record of success. Each crown or bridge is designed individually, hand stained, polished and finished and inspected careful before being cemented. Each crown is hand painted to create life-like aesthetics to match your teeth as naturally as possible.
