Frenectomy and Tongue Tie Treatment Process

TYPICAL TREATMENT PROCESS

STAGE 1: Frenectomy and Tongue Tie Consultation:

Your dentist will conduct a detailed examination of your oral condition and it may include the following:

  • Comprehensive dental examination and explanation of findings
  • Soft tissue and gum check
  • A discussion about your dental concerns, goals and desires
  • A series of dental photographs or X-rays
  • Discussion of alternative treatment options
  • An opportunity to ask a dentist any questions you may have about our treatments
  • A treatment plan

During your initial consultation, our experienced dental professionals will assess the extent of your condition, discussing the potential benefits of the Frenectomy and Tongue Tie procedure with WaterLase. Our philosophy is for both our dentist and you to have a detailed understanding of the situation so that you can make the right decision for yourself.

STAGE 2: WaterLase Frenectomy and Tongue Tie Procedure:

Using WaterLase technology, our skilled dentists will precisely remove the restricting tissue, allowing for improved movement and function of the tongue or upper lip. The procedure is typically quick, minimally invasive, and virtually painless.

STAGE 3: Post-Procedure Review:

Following the procedure, your dentist will schedule a post-operative review to ensure proper healing and address any questions or concerns you may have.

Revision Tongue Tie:
In some cases, a second procedure (revision) may be necessary if the frenulum reattaches or if the initial release was insufficient. Revision surgery aims to correct any remaining restrictions and ensure that the tongue/lip can move freely.
