Teeth Whitening Results
Significant whitening can be achieved in many cases, but there is no absolute way to predict how light your teeth will get. Teeth whitening outcomes can be unpredictable due to several factors, including enamel thickness and translucency. Thicker enamel often results in a more uniform and brighter appearance, while thinner enamel can allow the natural dentin colour to show through, leading to less dramatic results.
Additionally, the level of staining within the enamel plays a crucial role; surface stains are typically more responsive to whitening than deeper, intrinsic stains. Teeth with multiple colourations, bands or spots due to tetracycline staining or fluorosis do not whiten as well and may appear more spotted after treatment. These may require further treatment to achieve a uniform result in the form of veneers.
Relapse
Tooth whitening is not permanent and teeth may regress in shade ove time. This is natural and is dependent on diet, oral hygiene factors and habits. To maintain teeth at their optimal whiteness, it is advised to avoid staining foods, drinks and smoking, i.e. coffee, tea, red wine and curries. Repeat treatments may be needed to maintain the tooth colour you desire.
It's essential to be aware that individual results will vary, and no guarantees or assurances can be made for the outcome of the treatment.
