Why This Patient Skipped a Full Set of Veneers | BEFORE & BEYOND 64

In this case discussion, Dr Jaclyn Toh from Dental Designs Clinic in Singapore explains how she approached replacing a patient's old, discoloured composite veneers, and why a smaller intervention ended up being the preferred call.

About The Video

Dr Jaclyn Toh walks through a case involving old composite veneers that had discoloured and no longer blended with the patient's natural teeth. She explains how existing root canal treatment and possible decay under the old restorations were assessed, and why a smile design preview was carried out before any irreversible treatment was carried out.

She notes that the final treatment ended up being more conservative than expected. Whitening and minor fillings addressed some of the front teeth, while selective ceramic work and colour correction were used only where needed, on a single discoloured, rotated tooth. The patient's central incisors and canines were left untouched.

Dr Jaclyn Toh's approach to this case highlights that a full set of veneers isn't always the answer, even when a patient starts out asking for one. By assessing what was actually causing the discolouration and addressing it directly, treatment was kept to what was clinically necessary.

The video covers how old composite veneers are assessed, how a smile design process guides treatment planning, and how conservative options are considered before more extensive restorative work.
